WSAN4CIP is a Specific Targeted Research Project (STREP), which is partly funded by the European Commission in the ICT security area of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) under Objective 1.7: "Critical Infrastructure Protection". It started on 1 January 2009 with a duration of three years and a total budget of four million euro.

The project is performed by a consortium of eleven organisations from seven European countries – see Partners. Administrative coordinator is Eurescom, technical coordinator is IHP.

The project is structured into 7 work packages.
